This Darwin RTW fare allows 13 stopovers (7 stops internationally and 6 flights within Australia) within a wide variety of itineraries. Basically you're allowed 7 stops internationally (including your point of turnaround) and you must travel out and back via Australasia and within 29,000 miles - Plus you get 6 stops within East Coast Australia ( Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Gold Coast, Hamilton Island, Hobart, Launceston, Melbourne, Sydney, Townsville, Rockhampton, Mackay, Sunshine Coast, Coffs Harbour, or Cairns). It's also valid for 12 months and is fully flexible - allowing date changes and unusually, re-routing. So if you do break a leg in Cairns you can re-route your ticket to come straight home for a fee. Across Australia by train

Cook is known, with typical Outback humour, as ‘the Queen City of the Nullarbor.’ According to a signpost outside the little village store it has a population of ‘4 people, 40 dingoes and 4,000,000 flies.’

It is fair to say that not much happens in Cook and the arrival of the Indian Pacific is still a highlight of the week.

What does ‘surface’ mean?
This means you will fly in and out of a different city or country. In other words you will travel between them by other means, perhaps by train, bus or boat. A round the world trip should be more about seeing things you’ll never see again, rather than rushing through airports and sitting on buses ‘just to get there’. - more

What tax - is it V.A.T?
No it is not V.A.T. The tax is airport tax, money that the airport is charging you to use its facilities. This used to be collected at the airports but is now payable in advance when you purchase your ticket. Most airport taxes are paid up front with your airfare...more
